Job Description
My client, an established Motor Insurance Broker based in Central Hove require an experienced Motor Claims Handler to join their busy and friendly team.
You will be responsible for the management and negotiation of motor claims from notification to closure at minimum cost, within the guidelines of the Claims Manual.
Principle Responsibilities:
Ensure that all new claims actions have been completed
Review reserves at each touch to the file and amend if appropriate
Consider liability and if non fault ensure that the recovery process has been put in place
Where at fault and Third Party have instigated a claim, prioritise & closely monitor credit hire claims or those with additional expenses
Where liability is an issue ensure early investigation and contact with witnesses to determine liability and contain costs
Proactively obtain information and follow up inspections and investigation requests
Log actions on the memo screen with sufficient information for others to follow
Ensure all actions/promises are followed up and action diary within agreed timescales
When dealing with Total Loss, ensure all original documents are requested as soon as possible to avoid delays in settlement
Ensure total loss check list is completed and MIAFTR response received
Have salvage picked up as quickly as possible to avoid increasing storage charges
When advising a Policyholder/Third Party what is required next, ensure that they have a clear understanding, agreeing time scales
Ensure that all payments are correctly entered
Where a claim is declined/repudiated ensure that a clear explanation is given as to why
When closing a claim ensure that all actions are complete and the cause code is correct.
